I Didn’t Wash My Hair For Two Weeks!

And it felt better than it’s felt in years.  I never go more than a week without water hitting my hair.  My scalp can’t take it, and I’m usually going crazy by day four, but I power through the week.  *I know this isn’t Monday, but I forgot to post this.

I have hard water.  This I know.  I’m too lazy to buy the filter replacements for my carbon showerhead filter.

My hair hates shampoo.   This I know.  I try not to use it unless I need to clarify.

My hair is becoming more and more sensitive to protein.  This I know.  It gets straw-like after repeated uses of products like my beloved Cantu Shea Butter leave-in. *sigh*

I flat ironed two weeks ago and I decided that I would go at least 10 days without washing or spritzing it.  I made it 13 days!  Let me tell you, my hair was so soft and flowy by day 10, that I’m thinking about doing it again.  Why?  Because as soon as water hit my hair, it became hard [technically, not hard, but my fantastic soft fluffiness was gone.]

I’d made a video about this, but I don’t have time to edit it.  My hair was so nice.  It was extremely kinky at the roots, kinda smelly [in my mind,] and itchy, but I can’t get over the softness!  Egads!

This is my hair the day before I finally washed it.  I just two-strand twisted it every night and put tons of shea butter and coconut oil on it.  Loves!

  1. Instead of using shampoo to wash your hair, try using conditioner along to clean it. Suave Naturals make a whole line of pretty good for your hair conditioners. If you’re sensitive to protien, stay way from the Coconut. But the others should be fine – Green Apple, Tangerine, and Aloe/Water Lily are my favorites.

There’s also a recipe on my website so that you can make your own herbal conditioner.

  2. Your hair looks so soft. Why is it that our hair seems to look it’s best and is cooperative when it’s dirty? lol

  3. So FREAKING PRETTY!!!!! I stay going for like 2 (sometimes 3) without washing it. My hair is so dry! Ao going for that long leaves it uber soft and moisturized.

  4. I wish I could do this but my scalp just can’t take it.. Another thing that I have noticed is that most conditioners contain some kind of protein.. So I have to be extremely careful when using conditioners.
But I think this is a great idea for those who can handle it:)

  5. I only wash once a week. LOL but if I go a little longer my hair loves it. :)
