Jane is a drugstore line that you can find at Rite-Aid, Ulta and Walgreens. I use Jane primarily for eyeliners, as the line has a tremendous selection and nice range of colors. I walked past the cosmetics aisle (as I normally do) in Rite-Aid yesterday and my eyes stumbled upon this little piece of heaven in a jar. I just had to get it.
These ‘water resistant’ babies come in 5 gram jars and in four different ‘flavors’ [purple/wine, black, brown and navy.] I bought the black. And, like L’Oreal HiP’s cream liner, it also comes with it’s own brush, but unlike L’Oreal HiP, the brush is actually usable and made with natural fibers.
This product applies like a dream. It’s very smooth, very true in color and dries quickly upon application so there is no smudging when you apply a second layer [not needed] or make touch-ups. I’ve never owned any other gel/cake/cream liner but L’Oreal HiP [FYI: MAC, Stila, MUFE, and Clinique all make gel/cream liners of varying sizes and for $$] and I can say that this is a replacement. It’s head and shoulders above L’Oreal HiP price-wise and the ease of application.
So far, I’ve only worn this on my top lid, not on my waterline. But I have oily lids and it’s about 90 degrees out today and so far so good!UPDATE: The liner lasted all day long. Check out my end of the day pictures here: 40’s Glam Look.
UPDATE: Christiana Divine has reviewed the Jane gel liners! Check out her page to see her swatches and pictures of the product.
A take on the makeup of the 40s era with my own twist. I didn’t have time to concentrate on my lips so I literally tossed on the red lip. Normally a good red lip takes me quite a few minutes and it can stay on ALL day without a real touch up. (And my hair sucked so…)

Thinking about toning it down for a while [at least until the 4th of July!] hehehe. This is the end of that day after 12 hours of wear as you can see from my hair… Only two lipgloss reapplications, wow!
Also note the brows. I told you all, the Rimmel pencils do the darn thing. They stay on until you make them come off. They’ve probably faded a tiny bit right in front of the arch, but that’s about it.

I’ve been promising to do swatches of the NYX products that I have for months. I don’t plan to buy anything new [with the exception of the ones that broke two minutes ago] so the swatches will be limited to what I have in my collection for now. You can find NYX at Rite Aid, local beauty supply stores, Ulta and online at http://www.ulta.com, http://www.nyxcosmetics.com and http://www.cherryculture.com.
The base for the swatches is UDPP. [From left to right: Princess Pink, Shimmer, Red Bronze, Hot Pink, Red Head, Rust] Click the below photos for a close up.

I purchased Stila’s Kajal Eye Liner in Topaz last week at Sephora. It’s described by Stila as
Kajal eye liners are formulated to mimic the ultra-soft texture of the indian eye darkener of the same name. The luscious formula is silky smooth and glides on perfectly, without dragging across the most fragile skin around the eye area. Delivers bold, clear, true color that blends easily and beautifies.
I found this liner to be very messy and it applied like a melted crayon. I was not pleased.
When I opened the box, I was super excited because it looked so pretty. I couldn’t wait to apply this to my water line to brighten my eyes.
As I do with all new eyeliners or lip pencils, I sharpened the pencil to prepare for use. The tip literally melted before my eyes. Boo! I then shaped it with my fingers to a point *UGH!* and tried to smudge it onto my water line. I then spent the next 15 minutes trying to get that pink pasty mess off of my lower lashes without smudging my eyeshadow. In the end I just raked mascara over it the best I could and covered my water line with black eye liner.
I really wanted to like this product, but it is a true bust for me, it will be going back to Sephora promptly. I’ll exchange it for the Tarte highlighter duo and see how that works out.
