Jane is a drugstore line that you can find at Rite-Aid, Ulta and Walgreens. I use Jane primarily for eyeliners, as the line has a tremendous selection and nice range of colors. I walked past the cosmetics aisle (as I normally do) in Rite-Aid yesterday and my eyes stumbled upon this little piece of heaven in a jar. I just had to get it.
These ‘water resistant’ babies come in 5 gram jars and in four different ‘flavors’ [purple/wine, black, brown and navy.] I bought the black. And, like L’Oreal HiP’s cream liner, it also comes with it’s own brush, but unlike L’Oreal HiP, the brush is actually usable and made with natural fibers.
This product applies like a dream. It’s very smooth, very true in color and dries quickly upon application so there is no smudging when you apply a second layer [not needed] or make touch-ups. I’ve never owned any other gel/cake/cream liner but L’Oreal HiP [FYI: MAC, Stila, MUFE, and Clinique all make gel/cream liners of varying sizes and for $$] and I can say that this is a replacement. It’s head and shoulders above L’Oreal HiP price-wise and the ease of application.

So far, I’ve only worn this on my top lid, not on my waterline. But I have oily lids and it’s about 90 degrees out today and so far so good! UPDATE: The liner lasted all day long. Check out my end of the day pictures here: 40’s Glam Look.

UPDATE: Christiana Divine has reviewed the Jane gel liners! Check out her page to see her swatches and pictures of the product.

I have been asked, “Where you can find NYX Cosmetics?” If you’ve watched any of my Youtube videos, you will see that i wear NYX a lot. A lot. I love the color choices, the price points and the color payoff in the singles. If you don’t want to visit cherryculture.com or nyxcosmetics.com, you can find NYX at Ulta and at your local Beauty Supply Store [BSS.] *UPDATE: Rite Aid now carries NYX cosmetics.*
I suggest looking around. If you pass by a random Beauty Supply Store, stop in and check out the cosmetics section on your way to the fake ponytails. NYX runs from $0.99 to about $7 for the products. The accessories such as the brushes are all less that $20. To me, that’s worth the look.
Elsewhere in the blogosphere:
-
check out Yummy, she found a NYX goldmine at her local bss too. She even threw in a few swatches and pictures of the display stand for you all.
-
Mrs. Lynne has tons of swatches on her site if you are curious about the lip colors.
.

As far as the model and representative… Yep, that’s Maite! Anyone who was married to Prince is cool in my book.

I bought L’oreal HiP. bright shadow duo in Showy. The bright blue side is supposed to be a MAC Parrot dupe from the MAC Originals line. Since I don’t own any MAC products [yet], I can’t tell you either way. I will say that it’s a pretty color. It’s a shimmery teal blue that goes on very smoothly. The other half is a navy blue that it a little more matte. I swatched the teal side because we rarely get to see these swatches on brown-er skin–it does make a difference. I will upload some pictures when I figure out what I want to do with it. Right now I paired it with a shimmery brown, and it looks ok… I’ll have to play around a bit.
Ulta didn’t have showy in either store near my house so I bought this at Target for $5.34.

With these swatches I used a dry brush, the same amount of swipes and pressure. I dry wiped the brush clean between each use. [Yes, I am hairy!]

[more from my haul under the hood.]
